We’re a unique space dedicated to recovering what we believe to be the essence of yoga: a traditional yoga philosophy and practice available to everyone. Yoga is a system of living designed to promote health, peace of mind, and deeper awareness of ourselves. The practice of yoga is to bring body, mind and spirit (breath body) into balance. Classes are taught with a beginner in mind, yet are challenging enough for the advanced student. We recognize that everybody is different, and every Body is different. Yoga’s intention is to provide a safe, loving environment where each individual can explore the dynamics of the asana within their own mind, body, spirit, mental and emotional bodies, and at their level of fitness/awareness/ readiness.
What is Yoga?
Yoga is to reduce the disturbances/fluctuations of the mind.
In a paragraph, Yoga is a 5,000 year old philosophy/science of life. Yoga is a system of living, designed to promote health, peace of mind, and deeper awareness of ourselves first. This leads to greater awareness of life around us. By combining physical postures, breath and mindfulness sitting, yoga can, and will, bring about a healthy body and a sound peaceful mind. The word yoga means “to yoke” or “union” and the practice of yoga is to bring body, mind and spirit (breath) into balance.
Yoga begins and evolves from within. Emphasis on safe practices and correct alignment. We encourage a non-judgement, non-competitive atmosphere among yourself and others in class. Yoga is a process of self-transformation. The postures we take in a yoga practice are not the end goals. Yoga is more than just poses.. Yoga provides much more than physical benefits. Every form we make and every breath we take is an opportunity for You to Open to Greater Awareness… that’s Yoga!
